- July 26 – Mail ballot arrives
- August 13 – Election Day
Tip 2: Confirm your voter registration
Make it a habit to check your voting information at the start of every election year. Be sure your voting information is up to date using the online voter registration system at elections.hawaii.gov.
If you have moved, or changed your name or mailing address, use this online tool to update your voter registration and ensure that you will receive your mail ballot.

Tip 3: Make your voting plan
What’s on your ballot?
Want to preview what will be on your ballot? Use the ‘View My Ballot’ tool to review the contests and candidates that will appear on your ballot. Print out your sample ballot and mark your choices. Practicing on your sample ballot will lessen the chance of making a mistake on your official ballot.
How will you return your ballot?
The most convenient way to return your voted ballot is by using the provided return envelope and dropping it back in the mail. Be mindful of delivery times and allow ample time for your ballot to be received by the ballot return deadline. Remember, your ballot must be received by August 13 at 7:00 PM to be counted.
Ballots can also be returned to any ballot drop box within your county. Find the location nearest you: Voter Service Centers and Ballot Drop Boxes.
Tip 4: Check in with your friends and family
Reach out to a friend or family member. Maybe there’s a neighbor or your relative who may need help using the online voter registration system. Check in with them to be sure they have the help they need.
Tip 5: Have a backup plan
Ballot drop boxes and voter service centers are a great backup for your last-minute voting needs. Too late to return your ballot by mail? Drop it off at a ballot drop box.
Voter service centers also are a great last-minute option as they provide same day voter registration. Find the location nearest you: Voter Service Centers and Ballot Drop Boxes.
Track Your Ballot!
Sign up for ballot tracking alerts at elections.hawaii.gov. The free service provides you key reminders including a friendly notice when the ballot return deadline is approaching. Again, it’s all about setting yourself up for a stress-free Election Season!
