Let’s start 2026 strong by making sure you’re ready to vote. Here’s your quick guide to staying informed.
1. Mark Your Calendar
Hawaii holds elections every even-numbered year. Here are the key dates for 2026:
- Primary Election: Saturday, August 8, 2026
- General Election: Tuesday, November 3, 2026

2. Check Your Voter Registration
Make sure your voter registration is up to date!
Visit elections.hawaii.gov to:
- Confirm your registration status
- Update your residence or mailing address
- Register online if you’re new to voting in Hawaii
Your current registration ensures you receive the correct ballot at the right address.
3. Understand Voting by Mail
Voting in Hawaii is done by mail, and it’s easy! Here’s what to expect:
- Your ballot is automatically mailed to your registered address
- It arrives 18 days before Election Day
- You must sign your return envelope for your vote to count
- Ballots must be received by 7:00 PM on Election Day

- Sign up for ballot tracking alerts: Get notified when your ballot is mailed, received, and accepted.

If you’ll be away from your regular address, request an absentee ballot to be sent to your temporary location.
