Youth Xchange Video Contest Winners

Posted on Apr 21, 2022 in News Releases

We partnered with Olelo Community Media to sponsor the Elections & Voting category in this year’s Youth Xchange Video Contest, and we are so excited to share with you the winning submissions!

The contest is Hawaii’s largest student video competition and empowers students to use their voice to spread awareness on topics affecting the community. We challenged students from elementary through college to create a short video on Voter Registration and Voting by Mail.

Students were tasked with learning the how-to’s of voting and think creatively about how to share this information with their peers and communities.

View the winning submissions below:

Elementary: Our Community Relies On You – Pōmaika‘i Elementary

Middle: Voting by Mail – Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle

High School: Go Vote – Moanalua High

A special thank you to everyone who participated. To the students and faculty who made these entries possible, we so appreciate you sharing your time, talents, and creativity with our office, and it excites us to see Hawaii’s voters of tomorrow engage with elections today!

One last thing: Are you or someone you know ages 16 or 17?

Know your right to pre-register to vote! As a reminder, Hawaii provides individuals 16+ the convenient option to pre-register.

With voter pre-registration, you are automatically enrolled to receive a mail ballot once you are eligible to vote at age 18.

To pre-register: Print and complete a Voter Registration Application and submit to your County Elections Division. Share this important information with everyone in your community so that no one misses a chance to get ahead.
